The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh (KBRI Phnom Penh) officially welcomed approximately 30 Indonesian delegates participating in the International Creativity and Innovation Award (ICIA) 2026, held from April 24 to 26 in Cambodia’s capital.
The delegation consisted of representatives from Krya Global, university students, high school students, and accompanying teachers—reflecting a diverse and dynamic group of Indonesian youth actively contributing to global innovation.
Strengthening Indonesia’s Presence in Global Innovation
During the reception, the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Indonesian Embassy, Krishnajie, expressed appreciation for the delegation’s participation in the international event. He emphasized that involvement in ICIA provides valuable exposure and learning opportunities for Indonesian youth, enabling them to strengthen their capacity in innovation and creativity.
Participation in ICIA 2026 highlights Indonesia’s growing role in the global innovation ecosystem, particularly in addressing real-world challenges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event itself brought together participants from 27 countries, creating a collaborative environment for young innovators, educators, and startups.
ICIA as a Platform for Learning and Impact
ICIA is more than a competition—it is a global learning platform where participants develop and present innovative solutions to pressing global issues. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, students and innovators are encouraged to transform ideas into impactful solutions, particularly in areas such as sustainability, technology, and social innovation.
For the Indonesian delegation, participation in ICIA 2026 not only served as a competitive platform but also as an opportunity to exchange knowledge, build international networks, and gain insights into global innovation trends.
Indonesia to Host the Next ICIA
A significant highlight of Indonesia’s involvement in ICIA 2026 was the official handover announcing Indonesia as the next host country for the upcoming ICIA event. The announcement took place during the Award Announcement and Global Celebration on April 26, attended by key figures including Cambodia’s Minister of Education, Youth and Sport.
This milestone marks an important step for Indonesia, positioning the country as a future hub for global innovation, creativity, and youth collaboration. Hosting ICIA presents a strategic opportunity to showcase Indonesia’s talent, strengthen international partnerships, and further promote innovation-driven development.
Looking Ahead
The reception at KBRI Phnom Penh symbolizes more than diplomatic engagement—it reflects Indonesia’s commitment to empowering its young generation to compete and collaborate on a global stage. As Indonesia prepares to host the next ICIA, the momentum from 2026 serves as a strong foundation for even greater impact in the years to come.
